Their facilities serve vulnerable populations, including those with serious mental illness and developmental disabilities, fostering environments of care, respect, and empowerment. Telecare operates various specialized centers such as the Sanger Place Mental Health Rehabilitation Center, a 15-bed sub-acute psychiatric care facility designed to provide clinical and developmental support for adults aged 18-59. The organization places a strong emphasis on quality behavioral health services to improve clients’ lives comprehensively. The role of Cook at Telecare plays an essential part in this mission by ensuring that clients receive nutritious, properly prepared meals that meet their therapeutic and dietary needs. This position involves ordering, preparing, seasoning, cooking, and serving a wide array of food items including meats, fish, vegetables, soups, salads, and desserts. The Cook ensures adherence to nutritional principles and therapeutic diet requirements, crucial for the health and well-being of clients under Telecare’s care. This is an on-call position requiring flexibility as shifts vary based on the needs of the facility. The starting salary is $21.00 per hour, with geographic differentials applied according to location. Pay is commensurate with relevant experience beyond the minimum qualifications. The Cook is expected to have at least two years of experience in food production, including knowledge of therapeutic diets and the ability to operate institutional kitchen equipment safely such as steam tables, stoves, refrigerators, and freezers. This role requires high attention to cleanliness, nutrition, and safety standards, as the food prepared directly influences the health outcomes of vulnerable populations. Certifications in CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid are mandatory either at the time of hire or within 60 days of employment and must be maintained throughout the tenure. The position also requires successful completion of health screenings, tuberculosis testing, criminal background checks, and may require valid driver’s license and auto insurance if driving duties are involved. Telecare promotes professional growth through free continuing education units (CEUs), coaching and mentorship programs, and offers discounts on online university tuition and company scholarships. Shift differentials and weekend differentials enhance compensation for qualifying hourly staff. Additionally, eligible on-call and short-hour employees can access medical, vision, and commuter benefits once they meet the required hours worked. At Telecare, the culture emphasizes respect, inclusion, and empowerment of both clients and staff. The Cook’s role is integral in delivering not just food, but nourishment that supports recovery and dignity.
