The Service Operations Department at Temple University is actively searching for Overnight Housekeepers (Service Staff IV) to join its team. This role is essential for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the university’s various buildings and facilities. The Overnight Housekeeper reports directly to the Director of Housekeeping and is primarily responsible for general housekeeping duties across campus areas. Key tasks include floor maintenance activities such as stripping, refinishing, waxing, and buffing floors with power machines and related equipment. Housekeepers will also engage in general cleaning duties in classrooms, kitchens, offices, corridors, stairways, washrooms, and other university spaces. Responsibilities extend to cleaning study corrals, glassware, labs, lecture halls, lounges, recreational and fitness centers, pool areas, game rooms, and TV lounges, ensuring an overall clean and sanitary environment. Given that the position requires working overnight shifts, flexibility and reliability are critical as employees also provide on-call service during urgent or emergency events. Candidates must have at least one year of housekeeping experience in a business environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The role demands physical stamina to stand for extended periods and the ability to walk and bend frequently. Additionally, candidates need adequate reading and writing skills and must be comfortable with using general cleaning chemicals safely in various work environments, including damp locations.
