The Sales Representative role at Central Market is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about specialty foods and customer service. This position is primarily responsible for stocking and selling products to both new and existing retail customers, facilitating sales growth by ordering assigned products and ensuring they are aptly merchandised and fronted. The Sales Rep works under immediate supervision and follows detailed verbal and written instructions, applying and developing basic skills in procedures, techniques, tools, and materials relevant to their departmental specialization. Depending on the department, the role requires some specific product knowledge, emphasizing the importance of understanding specialty food products and preparation techniques.
Key responsibilities include providing excellent customer service, organizing and preparing back areas for deliveries, maintaining a clean and safe sales floor, stocking and rotating items as necessary, resetting products, and ensuring shelf conditions uphold the integrity of tags and signage. A crucial aspect of the role is checking shipments for expired or damaged products to maintain freshness and quality. Compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations related to product freshness, safety, refrigeration, and sanitation is mandatory. Additionally, the Sales Representative helps uphold standards related to shrinkage, safety, and inventory control. The role also involves assisting with merchandising to maximize sales and using suggestive selling techniques effectively.
Candidates typically have between zero to two years of experience and preferably possess knowledge of department-specific products, food preparation methods, and equipment. A strong foundation in specialty food products, customer service skills, and a passion for food are essential. The job requires materials handling equipment certification, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment under varying temperature conditions. Physical capability to manage weights exceeding 25 pounds, up to 50 pounds, is also required.
