The role of a Checkout Clerk at WinCo Foods is pivotal in delivering an exceptional shopping experience for customers, ensuring service quality at the checkout lanes. This position typically involves working shifts ranging from 6 to 8 hours starting between 5:00 am and 1:00 am, reflecting the stores operational hours which run 24/7 with limited exceptions. The Checkout Clerk interacts with customers at two-aisle check stands, multi-station self-checkout (SCO) lanes, or the customer service desk, depending on assignments. The individual in this role is entrusted with processing customer transactions accurately and efficiently while maintaining a friendly and cooperative atmosphere. The position demands attention to detail in handling monetary payments, including cash, checks, food stamps, gift certificates, and coupons, and compliance with all cash handling and lane accountability policies. Responsibilities include engaging customers with enthusiasm and courtesy, utilizing check stand equipment such as registers, scanners, and scales, and applying suggestive selling techniques to enhance the customer experience. The role also encompasses maintaining cleanliness and organization of the check stand area, stocking, pricing, rotating merchandise, and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws regarding restricted items like tobacco and alcohol. Furthermore, the Checkout Clerk may be assigned to manage self-checkout stations, providing assistance to customers, and mitigating any transactional errors or theft risks.   • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends and holidays in a 24/7 operation
  • Ability to perform friendly, courteous and tactful relations with customers and co-workers

  • Ability to conduct visual inspections and read merchandise information
  • Ability to lift and maneuver objects up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
