The role of a Cashier at JCPenney is pivotal in delivering excellent customer service and enhancing the overall sales experience. As a Cashier, you will be responsible for maintaining high checkout standards, assisting with general store operations including omnichannel initiatives, recovery, and inventory, and ensuring safety and shrink performance measures are met. This position is integral to the store’s success as you will directly interact with customers, ensuring they receive courteous and efficient service while promoting various company programs such as credit, rewards, and gift card services. You will manage the checkout process with accuracy, including handling returns and re-ticketing, and support merchandising efforts at checkout areas. Additionally, you will use mobile point of sale devices to manage checkout lines and call for support when necessary to maintain a smooth customer flow. In this role, you will also contribute to store operations beyond the checkout by assisting with omnichannel sales efforts, maintaining fitting rooms, participating in annual inventory counts, and helping with floor recovery and restocking. You will uphold performance standards consistently, including company shrink and safety initiatives, productivity, customer service excellence, and attendance. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
