Migrant Head Start program is a comprehensive early childhood education initiative dedicated to serving the children of migrant and seasonal farm and agriculture working families. This program specifically targets children ages 0-5 years who come from families involved in the cultivation of hand-picked and row crops, a sector known for its unique challenges and mobility requirements due to the nature of agricultural work. The Migrant Head Start program recognizes the importance of early education combined with health and safety practices to promote long-term success for children in these communities. The program operates full-day, full-year services, underscoring its commitment to providing consistent, high-quality care and education throughout the entire year, including times when most other preschool programs may be unavailable. This level of service is crucial for children in migrant families who often face educational disruptions due to frequent moves related to seasonal employment. The role of the Bus Aide within this program is integral to maintaining the safety and well-being of children as they travel between their homes and the educational facilities. Working in direct partnership with the Bus Driver/Facilities Custodian, the Bus Aide is responsible for ensuring that all children adhere to the Early Childhood Development safety rules and regulations during bus rides. Beyond supervising the children's behavior and enforcing safety protocols, the Bus Aide also engages the children in educational activities that complement their classroom learning. This dual role fosters a supportive, secure, and enriching environment right from the moment children step on the bus to when they arrive at school or return home. Additionally, the Bus Aide plays a pivotal part in promoting school readiness by preparing both children and their families for success in school and life. This includes providing clear directives regarding appropriate conduct and safety, monitoring children's actions through active supervision by sight and sound, and maintaining a clean and safe learning environment that complies with health and safety regulations. The position demands attention to detail and a commitment to the welfare of young children, creating a positive, nurturing atmosphere that supports physical safety and developmental growth. This full-time role requires a compassionate and attentive individual who understands the unique needs of young children from migrant and seasonal working families. The ideal candidate will have experience or training with children ages 0-5, excellent communication skills in English and ideally Spanish, and the ability to work collaboratively with families, staff, and volunteers. Proficiency with basic computer skills is also valued, as is holding a valid Arizona Driver's License or state ID. Migrant Head Start not only provides a meaningful career opportunity but also offers a supportive work environment with a competitive benefits package to ensure the health and well-being of its employees.
