About Delta Air Lines: Delta Air Lines is a 'global leader' in connecting the world, and our New York (JFK) hub is a critical gateway to 'Latin America' and Europe. We are seeking 'Bilingual Flight Attendants' who are fluent in both 'English and Spanish' to join our In-Flight team. This is a specialized 'entry-level' role, meaning 'no experience' as a Flight Attendant is required, but 'fluency in Spanish is mandatory'. As a Bilingual Flight Attendant, you will perform all the duties of a standard Flight Attendant with the added, critical responsibility of providing 'language support' to our Spanish-speaking customers. This role is essential for ensuring safety and providing an inclusive, welcoming experience on our international flights. 'No experience' in aviation is needed; we provide 'paid training' in Atlanta. Your New Career – The Role: As a 'Language Qualified' (LOD) Flight Attendant, your primary mission is 'safety'. You will also be the designated 'Spanish-speaking' crew member on flights to and from Spanish-speaking destinations or on routes with a high volume of Spanish-speaking customers. You will assist with 'safety announcements in Spanish', translate instructions during emergencies, and provide 'customer service' to passengers who may not speak English. This role requires all the flexibility of a standard crew member, including working 'day shift', 'night shift', 'weekend shift', and 'on-call' reserve schedules from our JFK base. The Training – Your Foundation for Success: Your career begins with our 8-week, paid training program in Atlanta. This program includes all the standard Flight Attendant training (aircraft systems, emergency procedures, first aid, service) plus a 'language qualification' component. You will be tested on your 'Spanish fluency' (reading, writing, and speaking) to ensure you can 'accurately translate' complex safety, medical, and service information. This is a 'challenging' program that will certify you as an FAA safety professional and a 'Language Qualified' crew member. A Day in the Life – What to Expect: Your day mirrors that of a standard Flight Attendant, but with added responsibilities. * 'Pre-Flight:' During the crew briefing, you will be identified as the 'Spanish-speaking' Flight Attendant. You will be responsible for 'translating' key safety announcements for your pre-flight recording or for performing them live. * 'Boarding:' You will be a 'critical resource' for Spanish-speaking passengers, helping them find their seats, understand baggage policies, and feel 'comfortable and welcome'. * 'In-Flight:' During the flight, you will perform all standard safety and service duties. You will also be called upon to assist other crew members with any 'translation' needs, from a simple service request to a 'critical medical or safety instruction'. In an emergency, your role is 'vital' to ensuring 'all' passengers understand commands. * 'Post-Flight:' You will assist with deplaning and may be asked to 'help translate' for passengers needing assistance with 'customs and immigration' forms or connections. The Lifestyle – Schedule & Flexibility: As a new 'entry-level' crew member, you will be on 'reserve' at our JFK base. You must be on-call and able to report to the airport within a few hours. This 24/7 role includes 'day shift', 'night shift', 'weekend shift', and holiday assignments. This lifestyle demands flexibility but rewards you with 'global travel' and many days off in a row. Why Delta? This specialized role comes with 'additional pay' (a 'language pay override') for all flight hours, on top of your standard pay. You'll receive all the great benefits of being a Delta employee, including 'profit sharing', 'global travel privileges', comprehensive benefits, and a 'people-first' company culture. This is a 'highly sought-after' position that allows you to use your language skills to 'make a real difference' for our customers.
