The role of Manager, Bakery at Southeastern Grocers is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation and success of the bakery department within the store. This management position involves overseeing daily bakery operations to drive customer confidence and loyalty by implementing consistent and compliant processes. The manager is responsible for presenting fresh, appealing bakery products and ensuring courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt service to customers. Additionally, the role requires strategic merchandising in accordance with department planners, sales trends, and inventory management to minimize shrinkage and maximize profits. The Bakery Manager leads a team by supervising, training, coaching, and developing associates. The position is a blend of hands-on responsibilities, including physical tasks, delegation, team leadership, and administrative duties such as scheduling, pricing adjustments, and inventory oversight. They spearhead departmental goals related to merchandising, sales, and profitability, managing budgets and schedules effectively. The Bakery Manager enforces compliance with food safety regulations, company standards, and local, state, and federal laws. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills, possess a working knowledge of bakery equipment and basic baking and decorating skills, and hold or be willing to obtain Food Safety Certification within 180 days of placement. The job requires standing, lifting, and manual dexterity, often in varying temperature conditions, and includes the use of personal protective equipment.
