The Barback role at Voltaire is a critical support position within the bar team, responsible for maintaining efficient operations and enhancing the overall guest experience. As the backbone of the bartending service, the barback ensures the bartenders are fully supported with everything they require to deliver exceptional beverage service. This includes keeping the bar fully stocked with appropriate glassware, liquors, mixers, and other supplies, as well as assisting with cleaning and organization to uphold the venue’s high standards of sanitation and presentation. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, sometimes high-pressure environment where attention to detail and a proactive attitude are vital. This role involves significant physical activity, including lifting, moving furniture, standing for long periods, and navigating the entire venue efficiently. The Barback’s duties also encompass supporting the bartenders in beverage service, quickly responding to their needs, and contributing to a seamless and memorable guest experience. Candidates must possess a thorough understanding of beverage products including high-end wines, champagnes, various liquor brands, and non-alcoholic options, alongside knowledge of proper glassware and garnishes. Candidates must hold the necessary health and alcohol awareness certifications, be at least 21 years old, and have experience working in busy, high-volume hospitality environments. • high school diploma or equivalent
• possession of a health card, alcohol awareness (TAM) card, and any other required certifications or licenses
• two years of experience in a high-volume setting
• ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds unassisted
• ability to navigate all areas of the property and move any furniture if needed
• ability to maintain composure under pressure and meet deadlines
