The Area Operations Specialist position is a vital role within the USO that focuses on ensuring the effective delivery of programs and services across multiple USO centers and outreach sites within a designated geographic area. This fully remote position requires the candidate to reside within 90 minutes of Albany, NY, and involves approximately 40 percent travel within New York State. The role offers a competitive salary range of $56,000 to $70,000, reflecting the important responsibilities involved.
As an Area Operations Specialist, individuals will engage in planning, executing, and evaluating a variety of programs, activities, and events that provide valuable support and entertainment to military personnel and their families. In addition to program delivery, the specialist will be responsible for maintaining key operational documentation such as standard operating procedures and program kits to ensure consistency and quality across the area.

- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years progressively responsible work experience in an administrative, business operations, programs, events or related role
- Relevant experience in a not-for-profit, military, multicultural and/or global organization preferred
- Strong interpersonal, customer service and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interact with USO leadership, the general public and military audiences at a variety of levels with integrity and professionalism
- Proficiency using computers and electronics equipment
- General knowledge of various software, applications, and programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment related to controversial and/or culturally sensitive subjects
- Ability to handle confidential information with tact and poise
- Must show initiative, self-motivation, and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities
- Ability to quickly and easily adapt to changing organizational needs
- Ability to achieve desired results while working collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to obtain and maintain proper credentials necessary to access USO Center locations and facilities including but not limited to security, credit and/or background screening, SOFA status, valid driver’s license
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid United States passport and valid foreign driver’s license (in applicable locations/regions)
