CFH is actively seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager and Lead Chef to oversee and manage all aspects of food and dining services at Susan's Place, a residential facility serving vulnerable populations. This pivotal role requires a professional who excels at managing kitchen operations, supervising food service staff, and preparing nutritious meals specifically tailored to meet the needs of facility residents. The position emphasizes strict adherence to food safety and sanitation protocols, regulatory compliances, and maintaining a clean, orderly kitchen environment.
The Kitchen Manager and Lead Chef will be responsible for maintaining a regular cooking schedule to deliver high-quality meals consistently, ensuring each resident's dietary needs and preferences are met with care and precision. This role involves supervising all kitchen areas, food preparation stations, and dining spots within the facility while managing inventory, equipment maintenance, and scheduling compliance to meet DOHMH and OSHA requirements. Additionally, the role requires collaborating with other departments to coordinate food services for facility events and ensure seamless operational flow.
As the culinary leader, the individual will develop and execute menus in accordance with NYC Food Standards, provide ongoing training and coaching for kitchen staff, and foster a positive work environment that encourages growth and accountability. A genuine, compassionate attitude towards residents is essential, ensuring satisfaction through clear communication and attentive service.
This full-time, leadership position is ideal for a motivated individual with at least 3-5 years of experience in kitchen management within healthcare or residential settings, coupled with strong food safety knowledge and certified credentials. The role challenges the incumbent to maintain quality and service standards, adeptly manage staff, and play a critical role in upholding the organization's commitment to resident well-being through superior meal service and kitchen operations.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in kitchen management or lead chef role
- HS diploma is a must
- Certified Food Handler certificate required
- ServSafe certification required
- Prior experience preparing meals in a healthcare or residential setting
