The role of custodian/housekeeper at Saint Anselm College is integral to maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the campus environment. This full-time position, requiring 40 hours per week, generally follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 7 am to 3:30 pm, with occasional Saturday shifts and potential overtime to support special events or needs. Custodians and housekeepers will be responsible for the general cleaning and upkeep of assigned campus buildings, ensuring that all facilities meet the college’s standards for hygiene and appearance. Key duties include routine housekeeping tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, disinfecting surfaces, emptying trash, and setting up rooms for events and functions. The role requires physical stamina and the ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment such as vacuum cleaners or floor buffers weighing between 15 to 30 pounds. Candidates must be capable of following detailed written instructions and adhering to chemical safety protocols, including understanding labels and warnings associated with cleaning products. While a high school education is desirable, relevant experience in commercial or institutional cleaning is highly preferred, along with skills related to routine housekeeping duties. Applicants with prior experience in similar environments will find an advantage in this role.
