In this role, employees will be responsible for cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, polishing, and washing all surfaces and rooms in department properties, including restrooms, kitchens, corridors, windows, floors, furniture, and other fixtures. Floor surfaces will be swept, mopped, vacuumed, or stripped as necessary, demonstrating a broad range of custodial skills. They are also tasked with collecting and disposing of garbage, replenishing supplies such as toilet paper and soap, and properly using and maintaining cleaning equipment. A critical part of the job involves inventory management of janitorial supplies and prompt communication with supervisors regarding needed reorders or operational issues.
Additionally, maintenance workers in this position sometimes assist with general groundskeeping and field maintenance, contributing to the overall upkeep of city parks. They may occasionally supervise seasonal laborers and assist in training new employees.
