The role of the Agent Cargo at WFS is pivotal to maintaining the integrity and efficiency of cargo operations. This position involves comprehensive responsibilities including computer data entry, preparation of all flight documents, interfacing with U.S. Customs, and handling import and export documentation. The Agent Cargo ensures that cargo is accepted and distributed according to applicable air carrier and Department of Transportation regulations. Additionally, the role involves generating customer lists for sales leads, soliciting orders, quoting prices, preparing sales contracts, and estimating delivery dates based on the company’s scheduling knowledge. Physically, the Agent must be capable of moving cargo weighing up to 70 pounds and must adhere strictly to WFS site security procedures. This position requires attentiveness to staff, security personnel, and visitor activities, with a responsibility to report any security issues or non-compliance. Individuals in this role must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be capable of managing stress across an eight-hour shift. Proficiency in operating all cargo handling equipment is essential, along with the ability to prepare and organize documentation ahead of flight arrivals or departures. The Agent Cargo is also responsible for field duties such as traveling to airport operational areas to meet flights, notifying brokers or freight forwarders about shipment statuses, assisting customers, collecting charges, processing customs paperwork, confirming bookings, and performing TSA mandated screenings. Accurate data entry and manifesting flights according to warehouse information fall under the Agent's duties, along with maintaining thorough filing systems and preparing various operational reports. Communication skills are crucial as the Agent handles incoming calls and emails and must demonstrate a rigorous commitment to security standards enforced by airport authorities and TSA.
